Who We Are & What We Do
The Indiana High School Hammer Association serves as a vibrant community, dedicated to uniting coaches and athletes across the state. Our mission is to elevate the hammer throw to the esteemed status it deserves, celebrating the rich tradition of throwing sports in Indiana.

Mission
Our mission is to foster a supportive environment for hammer throwers, providing resources, training, and opportunities to excel. We aim to cultivate talent and promote the sport at all levels, ensuring every athlete feels valued and empowered.

Vision
We envision a future where the hammer throw is recognized alongside Indiana's other prestigious throwing events. Our goal is to create strong networks among athletes and coaches, enhancing the visibility and appreciation of our sport.

Four Core Principles
HISTORY:
IHSHA aims to take a complete history of the top boy and girl hammer throwers in Indiana high school history in all relevant competitive weight categories. Boys: 12 pound, 6 kilogram, 16 pound. Girls: 3 kilogram and 4 kilogram.
It is our hope that these lists will motivate young throwers so that the state of Indiana can have as many entries as possible on the all time top 75 performers list. Currently, we have none.
EDUCATION:
Confused on where to start learning the hammer throw? Explore this area to find the ABC's of the hammer, how to practice when you are constrained by facilities, and many other getting started resources.
IHSHA is also committed to expanding the number of coaches in our state who can expertly and safely teach the hammer throw.
SAFETY:
When performed, coached and supervised with a foundation of safety, the hammer throw can be enjoyed by all.
We plan to develop resources meant to teach parents, coaches, and administrators how to enjoy learning and competing the safe way.
